The Batter Thickens: About

About

The Batter Thickens is the joint project of two sisters separated by age and location but always connected by their shared love of baking and all things sweet. This blog has been a long time coming, and we're so excited for it to finally be underway!

Audrey

So, I'll start this out with a word that defines me: amazing. Just let that sit for a bit. Now, I will start from the beginning: I was born in Iowa, raised in Indiana, spent two years in Germany, and then moved back to Indiana, where I currently reside. I am 13 years-old and my hobbies include (I feel like I'm filling out one of those forms on a dating website :P) tennis, reading, writing, basketball, travelling the world (fun fact: I've been to 24 countries), eating (Especially new foods from where I travel to), and baking (duh!)! I fancy myself pretty good at all of those.

Interesting facts? I speak two languages, English, and a weird hybrid of Spanish and German that comes from receiving an education of both.
Hidden talent? Well, if you really want to know, I can bend one knuckle on my fingers forward while the rest bend forward. Skills.
If you could only eat one baked good for the rest of your life, what would it be?
*tries to think of a loophole* ... It would be... A pan divided into four sections: brownie, cookie, cake, and other.

Molly

Molly is a college student in Minnesota studying English and Psychology. Her hobbies include reading, writing, Tumblr, harboring unrealistic career goals (opening a joint bakery/bookstore and becoming a published author), and consuming her own baked goods in quantities she would rather not disclose, preferably in the company of family or friends (though she is not above eating dessert alone). She will always consider herself a daughter of the Harry Potter generation. Things that make her happy: books and baking and thick socks; leopard print and coffee and Emma Watson; beautiful and new places, beautiful faces, and beautiful spaces. Her inspirations/life-ruiners include JKR, John Green, and Joy the Baker. If she could only eat one kind of baked good for the rest of her life, it would be fudgy (not cakey! never cakey!) brownies. You can find her posting elsewhere on her book review blog, Shelf Life.

Praise for The Batter Thickens:

"America should wake up to these baked goods!!!" - Our Dad
"These baked goods always make me feel emotionally satisfied." - Sadie, muse
"These cupcakes are an event. You want to savor them, with a cup of tea." - Jackie, aunt
